The reason of inaccurate measurement
As we know, electronic digital thermometer is sensitive, therefore there have many factors will affect the measurement accuracy. Such as the position of placement is incorrect, the armpit is wet,etc. If the temperature measurement method is incorrect, it is easy to cause a large measurement error.
Precautions for using electronic digital thermometers:
(1) Before use: The head end of the electronic thermometer needs to be disinfected. After disinfection, the disinfectant must be volatile and dry and then measured temperature.
(2) Measured in mouth: It should be placed under the tongue, closed the lips tightly. Pay attention to the breathing of the mouth before measurement or stop drinking water or eating for more than one minute. Do not breathe with the mouth during the measurement process.
In comparison, the mercury thermometer does not require closed mouth before temperature. Because mercury measurement need about 5 mins, and whether close mouth or not, it won’t cause too much effect for the measurement results. Due to the fast measurement speed for digital thermometer, if you open mouth is too long time before the measurement, It may affect the measurement results.
Measured under armit method: It should be placed deep in the armpit, clamp the upper arm, pay attention to the normal or cooling items at the armpit (if the ice pack is used to cool down, it is recommended to take the ice pack for a long time before testing or the mouth temperature method), and dry the armpit.
